About
Heat Therapy Pillows:
I
made my first Flax Seed Pillow in 2002, shortly after leaving
the spa where I'd been working. At the spa, we used Moist
Heat Packs that were warmed in a Hydrocollator (a water
filled heating unit).
Using
the Heat Packs was very effective for warming and relaxing
tight muscles, but... waiting for the packs to heat up (over
a half hour)... pulling the dripping hot packs out of the
hot water (we used insulated rubber gloves so as not to
burn our hands)... and having to use 2-3 full size towels
to regulate the amount of heat reaching the clients skin...
so much time and trouble!
I
loved the results I got using the Moist Heat Packs, but
I needed something that was easier to work with. I considered
buying a microwaveable pillow from the health food store,
however, I needed large ones for work, and the heat packs
I found in stores just were not adequate.
So
I made my own.... My massage clients love them (I have had
a number of requests for them), and so do I (I use them
for myself at home as well).
What
makes them special? It's the baffles. They keep the flax
seeds more evenly distributed so they don't collect in one
corner. They take just a few minutes to heat up in the microwave.
They are easy to handle and they work great!
